Who cares about CO2 emissions

Continued from peak oil discussion

In the next 10-100 years we will run out of oil and hence why even bother caring about the CO2 emissions of your big car. It takes more oil to make the car than is ever used driving it, so get a really big fast one and have some fun.

Obviously if we run out of oil we could have some problems:( Who cares though, not me I have a small willy and a fast car. But other than energy did you know oil is used for:

  • synthetic rubber – used in car tyres, 4×4 tyres and shoes, demand is 4 times greater than natural rubber
  • synthetic fibres – Polyester, nylon, and acrylic are all derived from petrochemicals. They are used for curtains, carpets, rope and clothes.
  • fertilizers – All major commercial fertilizers are ammonia based, made from natural gas, and most commercial pesticides come from oil.
  • paint – Plastic and oil based paints, as well as paint additives, are manufactured from petrochemicals.
  • detergents – All soapless detergents used to wash clothes and dishes are derived from the petrochemical glycerin.
  • plastics – All plastic is made from petrochemicals. Every product made from or containing plastic is a product that exists only through the distillation of petroleum.
  • food additives (canned food) -Food additives, derived from petrochemicals, help to increase the shelf life of canned food.
  • medicine -Acetylsalicylic acid (ASA), the active ingredient in many pain reliever medicines, is manufactured from petrochemicals. ( side not we own medical centre )
  • make up – Make-up, containing oils, perfumes, waxes and color, are derived from petrochemicals.
  • dyes – The majority of dyes we use, ranging anywhere from pens to hair dye, come from petrochemicals.

Not to worry though looks like the planet worked out how to sort out the CO2 emissions eh….run out of oil. So I may be very hot soon, maybe wet if I live by the sea, and smelly as I have no deoderant.
